Found a new house and it all worked out so I have a few pics of Nacho (the trucks name) from just before we moved and a few from after moving and getting to work on welding the bed up. Also working on new inner and outer rocker panels on the cab. I'll just share the pics and explain them as i go. Feels good to get back going again. Sorry for the delay.
These are the new mirrors that I got. They are repro's so they are a little flimsy. I do have an original for the drivers side but I wanted a set. I eventually found an original passenger side mirror arm on ebay that is white and has all the right patina. I will get the new ones one here some time. The next two photos are of some of the new parts and patch panels that I am going to be welding into the cab.
These are some photos after doing a lot of work on the drivers fender stripping all the paint off of it, and also all the body work that was done on the bed side after lots of welding and then primer. the front sheet metal is on to get ready for the move. The picture on the trailer is when it pulled up to the new house. I think it looks pretty good. In case your wondering it is a static drop 4.5 inches (2.5" drop spindles, 2" drop springs) in the front, and 5 inches (5" drop coil springs) in the back.
So just last weekend I finally decided to do something about that brand new bumper that I had bought and painted black for my old truck that is no longer around. So I painted it white before we moved with the intent of sanding through it to make some nice faux-patina or faux-tina. I think it turned out great.
This will take a little explanation. See, a few years back I replaced the glass in the truck and well I touched up the back with some killz primer to make it look white. I have obviously lately decided that Nacho is going to maintain his patina. So this is where I got to work restoring his patina with some rags and acetone. It was hard work and it still needs a little more attention.
This may not look that great but its welded and the paint is stripped. So that is a great start. I had a work day with a few good buddies and they went to town welding and grinding everything smooth. now a little filler and away we go. Also two pics down is the bed floor and sides about done now.
This was actually today, I stayed home from work after the dentist and had some fun! Well its a little stressful fitting panels but I think it will turn out well. The parts I am using are all tri-plus I believe and from what I can see are pretty good. They are not perfect and need messaging but they are as thick as stock.
